Default Amsoil Vs Royal Purple

Time for oil change on my S2k... I took it to Honda for their synthetic quaker state last change cause I was pressed for time and needed the oil change but this time, I'm gonna do it right. Which oil do you guys recommend for the F20C? I'm gonna get 10w-30 of course but which one is better? Any experience w/ these synthetics? Royal Purple says that you can go like 15000 miles on 1 oil change while Amsoil says you can go 75,000 or a year... I doubt I have the guts to actaully go that long w/o oil change so I guess oil breakdown isn't an issue but rather which one will perform better. Any kind of insight would be great. Thanks

Yah, I looked over that, it's really good but it states that RP is middle tier vs Amsoil, Redline, Motul... ect... I guess I'll go w/ Amsoil... maybe I'll buy a case off S2ki store.

I was told by the Amsoil distributor here that the complete lubrication "system" was recommended. Their 75,000 mile claim may be based on this. I, for one, would never leave any lubricant in for that long, especially one that is as high revving, high compression, rich running and EXPENSIVE as the S2000.

Many owners want the "best" for their engines. But you need to ask yourself a question: "Do you really need the best when a middle of the road, cheaper oil will have more than plenty of safety margin for your needs when changed at the recommended intervals as stated in the owners manual?" And if your engine failed with the expensive oil in it, will a company like Amsoil pay you upwards of $10,000.00 for a new engine? I highly doubt Honda will once they discover that you haven't changed oil in more than their "stated" interval. I can just hear the Honda warranty guy say, "You changed your oil HOW MANY 10'S OF THOUSANDS OF MILES AGO?" WARRANTY DENIED!

Engine oils are all about preference. Some will state one brand while others state another. Me personally has found Amsoil products difficult to purchase in the upstate New York region without ordering! Royal Purple products have been researched not to work effectively in our vehicle. The topic is still on the board but a search will have to be conducted inorder to find the post. Mobil 1 products are only found in my S2. 1st, convenience, you can purchase the product almost anywhere! 2nd, proven over and over to be effective. 3rd, price, a six pack at Walmart is $25 and change.

I use Amsoil. I purchased 3 cases worth (for 2 cars) at one time so that I would ensure myself that I wouldn't need to purchase any for quite some time. There are some local places that sell Motul for me and that would've been another option (depending on price...Motul tends to be more expensive). Another option would've been Neo, which I can get through a friend who buys directly from Neo.
