AP1 block in a AP2?
hmmmm now im getting an idea... wonder how well an ap2 block would do with an ap1 head reving to 9k ... never heard of anyone putting the two motors together. i wonder if it will break the 240hp mark... so 04-05 is the only ap2 bottom end someone could use with an ap1 head?
so if you were to put an AP2 06+newer head on a ap1 block then would it work? what are these ports you speak of that are blocked off on the 06+ newer heads? would this be a head gasket issue?
What I am saying it that the blocks, AP1 or AP2, are exactly the same. The only thing differant in the blocks is the crank, rods and pistons.
The same goes for the head, AP1 or AP2, It is the cams that are differant. There is a few other parts that are differant, but they are interchangable.
Only the 06+ head is differant. It lacks some emissions related ports.
So all block and heads will bolt together and work just fine. If you installed the AP2 cams on an AP1, it would be the same as changing the heads. If you changed the pistons, crank and rods on an AP1 to AP2 parts, you would have a 2.2L block.
All have been done, and everything you can think of in the way of iterations too.
