for the moment I am giving up on the car, too much expense involved at the moment and I have a very sour taste left in my mouth over the cars in general. I know they are great cars, just disappointed I managed to find one of the few exclusions and got screwed over it. If anyone wants an s2000 for cheap, send me a PM. Otherwise I will eventually get to fixing it..

can you provide the oil analysis report?

i am wondering if it's possible to have bottom end damage not show up on a UOA.

so i'm wondering if it's still top end related, and with good compression, this may be a manageable fix.

Jeez I will buy it and run it!! That video is not rod knock. Where are you located I would consider buying it. Personally I would try the valves again and check the top end, but I would consider just driving it as is.

sorry I have been very busy lately the s2000 has been sitting unused in the garage. I do not have any paperwork on the oil analysis but the shop said they ran the tests on it in house looking for metal flakes or particles and the oil was good. I am
going to likely pull the engine and try to repair it before ordering a new one since it has only 5k miles on it and it pulls hard still. I noticed the car just started throwing misfire CEL's that don't go away when moving coil packs, wondering if that has something to do with it all.

unless they have anin house lab there assessment is worthless. I really think you need to get that thing to someone who knows these cars before going any further. This may be something rather simple. Where are you located?

edit: I see Louisville, have you gone on the local board to try to locate a better shop? Try the S2ki Cincinnati Facebook page, that are has lots of members.

i took the car to halfassjack, he did the valves and I trust he did them properly, and he saw it just as hopeless as my local Honda dealer and all the shops I took it to did. im really not sure where I can take it at this point.
