Default AP2 engine in AP1 Question

sorry I would use the search but its not working and Im almost finsihed with the swap and this is the last thing I need.

I put a 05 Ap2 engine in my01 I know their is a mod to the fuel line but I need to double check to see what it is.

I remember reading that you have to cut some part of the line and add a piece and I think I also read that I could just use my ap1 fuel rail with the ap1 line and that would work.

What is the and best solution?

EDIT: this problem was fixed but now I have another issue.

I still have no heat and my antifeeze is dark like ther is oil in it

Thanks for any help you can give....

The AP1 and AP2 rail are the same. They changed it for the DBW AP2 (06+) , not the 04-05 AP2.

What about the fitting on the fuel rail, where the fuel line connects, is it the same as well. It seems that My01 is different from my05

You would have to post a picture, I don't remember off hand. But if you were conserned, you can always swap the fuel rail. the injectors are the same.

The hose changed from 03-04. I think the rail as well. Injectors were the same AP1/AP2 until 06 as mentioned.

What you can do is transfer the fuel hose, or you can actually bend the steel line to work. IIRC the hose attaches in a slightly different place but bending slightly fixes it. Also, IIRC, the DBW version is VERY different and you would need to swap the fuel line and rail with the motor, OR just swap the engine without the DBW or IM pieces (i.e. block and head only).

If you really want the DBW functionality (for Hondata?) there will be a lot of wiring that needs to be swapped over as well.

Thanks for the help.... I was able to bend the ap1 fuel line to make it work on the ap2 fuel rail.

The engine is a 05 and Im running my01 ECU. When I went to start it I was in LIMP mode I would guess beacuse the check engine light is on and I can only go to 3k rpms and my heat is not working now for some reason it just blows cold air.

I will scan the code in the morning, but does anyone have an ideal of what this could be.

I have an 05 motor in my ap1.
I just bent the tab on the fuel line......it works just fine.

I used my ap1 ecu at first with no issues....check all your connections, I didnt have any limp mode issues

I was able to fix the CEL It was the cam sensor on the back of the valve cover. The black wire on the connector was cut so I replaced the wire and now Im no longer in limp mode but I still have no heat. I think this is a different issue.

I noticed that my antifreeze was dark and it looks like oil is in it.

I just bought this engine from a member that was parting out an 05 ap2. When I got it their was some oil in the throttle body and manifold, I cleaned it the best I could.

Any Thoughts?

The heat issue I would guarantee is airlock, unless you disconnected the heater valve next to the battery. You're going to have to bleed the hell out of it. See my thread in this forum I posted recently on heating.

Oil in the TB/mani is nothing to worry about. Also, the Honda Type2 antifreeze is fairly dark to begin with and does get dark with age. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Do a compression test if you are concerned about the engine.
