What size is the nut on the stake nut attached to the AP2? No way in hell is that a 27mm, looks more like 35?

it's a 36mm nut btw. Unstake it and you can hit it with an impact, comes right off

Billman, is it necessary to replace the nut that holds on the rear flange when installing an AP2 transmission in an AP1?

As long as the nut has been un-staked properly, the nut can be re-used.

If the nut is beat up looking on the stake surface, change it.

Be sure the white washer and black oring are installed correctly, or the trans will pass gear oil into the driveshaft cv end, thinning the grease and causing a spinning slinging leak.
