blown engine
anyone with suggestions on the rebuild? i'm having the motor pulled as we speak. i have the comptech s/c ,aftercooler, 8psi tech2 pulley, spoon blue printed injectors, spoon throttle body spoon header, amuse dual ti exhaust, and the aem ems and wide band o2. also don't know how much if any difference it makes but i'm running spoon lsd w/j's 4.77's. what happened? it was tuned great, ran 13.1's in the quarter with no problems just the same as anyone else w/ ems the starting and stalling and temp problems fixed them all except the temp. once again don't know what happened but i down shifted to go around a big truck, was running fine about 80 mph and about 7grand accelerating then just lost compression, had to down shift to keep rpm's up so wouldn't die on me (it sounded sort of like a subaru wrx) when got home it died in my drive way and never started again. i really want to put the inline pro 2.5l stroker, low comp for FI. what are the suggestions. let me here them.....
Have you had the head off yet to see where the damage is?
When mine went it was cylinder 4 that started to slap around in the bore, but I had no noticable loss in power, just a lout ticking noise.

the guys have done a compression test so far and lost comp. in #3. as for the guy that said i did a money shift, i didn't i was just accelerating through the gear when it just went. i don't mean to scare anyone as the other guy said, i don't blame anyone or parts except chance. live and learn i guess and now gives me a reason to build the motor. so please someone give suggestions on pistons compression and such. thanx.....

I would suggest that you tear down your motor first before thinking about things to upgrade. Find out what's broken first.
I agree get the head off and take a good look at the valves, piston and cylinder to find why you are loosing compression.
fperra,
My new short block is in and done 1500 miles so far without a problem. The new clutch is a bit more grabby but that is starting to wear in as well. The power is quite a lot less without the SC but the mid range feels slightly stronger than the old engine (without SC).
The oil leak I would rather forget, I feel really stupid, I fitted the oil pressure sensor in the wrong threaded hole in the block. I didn't realise until I took a good look at the manual, but there is another threaded whole in the block that is just to the rear of the filter, and that's where I put the pressure sensor, which of course left the oil to pour out of the hole under the filter. I still don't know what the other hole is for but when I moved the sensor to the propper place all was OK.
The only other small problem was a fuel leak at the connection to the fuel rail, this was easily solved by a new set of ring washers as described in the manual.
I'm really missing the power from the SC, so that will go back on at the beggining of next summer.
