Default Blown Struts?

Hey Folks,

My car has been lowered on Eibach Pro kit springs with the stock struts/shocks for about a year and a half now and recently I've noticed when I hit bumps or when I pull up onto my drive way I hear a squeaking sound. The noise is coming from under my car and not from the convertible top. The only thing I can think of is my struts could have blown out? Is this a common issue or should I be looking in another direction

Thank you,

Lu-Dawg

it's possible that they are blown out. pull the wheels of and feel the struts. if there's fluid on them, then they bit the dust. a trick is to give the front/rear a good shove down and see if it keeps bouncing after 1-2 bobs. i don't know if this works on the s2k, it may be too stiff.

Yeah, I tried to push down the car but the S is to stiff. I'll have to pull the wheels of and look/feel around the struts. Is their a certain color fluid I should be looking for?

you are mainly just looking for wetness around the body of the shock, the fluid is almost clear and oily

its possible that is just some bushings or the top hat on the sock that is making the noise as well. you could also get someone the push up and down on the car while listen to pinpoint the noise

Great advice all. Given the age of the car and lowering, it is entirely possible that at least 1 is blown.
