Cable Reel?
Hello,
I did the big search and ran into a lot of cable reel threads by the time I got done. My SRS light has been on for a while and everything was plugged in but never got around to pulling the code. Now the cruise and the horn don't work. I checked all necessary fuses and then started to search on here and across the net.
Cable reel. I understand what it is and what may need to go into replacing it. The question I have is once I check to make sure all connections are in fact properly connected within the column is there anything else that would cause this not to function? Like for example a connector on the engine at a junction or something. The engine has been out twice and I believe both times the steering column has to or was disconnected. This could have caused the bind and break in the cable but want to make sure there isn't a plug in the engine bay or under the dash I should be looking for. The yellow plug under the steering is connected.
Thanks in advance.

You're supposed to remove the steering's airbag when disconnecting the steering column. That said, you just need to follow the directions in the repair manual.
When steering column gets serviced, it may move up, and into the steering wheel, damaging the clock spring, as it's also called.
So, disconnect battery,
center the steering wheel, wheels.
remove covers on side of the steering wheel.
Disconnect the connector (yellow, I think).
Remove airbag
Remove steering wheel.
remove steering column covers, top and bottom, 3 screws.
Disconnect 2 connectors coming out of the cable reel, one going along the column, that's the airbag one, and one more on the side, going to the dashboard, for cruise control.
Remove 3 screws, take out the reel.
Good luck!

Ya I got everything for the removal and install. Just checking to make sure that once I check the plugs and fuses that there isn't a plug in the engine bay that may be unplugged before the wires go to the cruise and horn.
Thanks
Chris
