Default CEL and engine kangerooing all over the place

I've got a CEL light on my car, it happened last wed ... IT causes the car to kangeroo a lot around 2krpm, the car sits there idling at 2k bouncing up and down revs about 500 rpm which shakes the car... Then when driving it just feels very 'on / off' throttle, basically you push throttle, get nothing and then suddenly jumps forward, and when off the throttle it feels like you've got the brakes on.

It also does this as well ... where the revs drop all the way down to almost stall.

^^ ...

It's either like the above text or the video.

Anyone got any ideas? I've had it suggested it's llambda.

oh yeh sorry... last wed it happened... I took it to honda on thurs, they cleared the light... Said the error was 'intermindent fault' - gave my car a service and it was fine.

Then the issue came back today!

Can anyone help please? Seems honda is useless.

You need to get the code read and post it. There are several things it could be...but the best clue is in the code.

Well I had it read at Honda, and they didn't tell me precisely what it was... just 'intermident error'....

I need to go buy one of those self tester things I guess? anyone got recommendations of units to buy?

Post up in the UK forum...someone in your area may already have a code reader or have a shop recommendation where they will pull the code for a small fee or free.

took it to a honda specialist and it was the idle air control valve.

You can try to clean the IAC...there are instructions in the DIY sticky. That can sometimes work. However, if it is badly stuck, you will need to replace it. They are not terribly expensive and very easy to replace.

Again...post up in the UK forum. This job is very easy and a local with some mechanical ability can can help you install the new IAC in 30min.

agreed! you need to pull the code then we'll know exactly what's going on.

Check the map sensor, idle air valve would help to explain the idle problem but not while your on throttle. the idle air control lets a little air pass the throttle butterfly when it is closed, or your engine is idling. once you press the throttle pedal and open your butterfly the idle air valve is no longer in play. the on off throttle feeling is something else completly. MAP, or manifold absolute pressure sensor would be the first place I would start looking.
