Default center console defroster switch MY01

so i got a top swap so now i got a actual glass rear window not the plastic....n my only problem is now that i want a defroster button but not sure which is the best approach......i saw poeple have a center console with the defroster switch on it.....or jus buy a 04 switch which would go on the dash...im not sure if the 04 dash button would work so i was wondering if i got the defrost button thats behind the cupholder is for sale n e where can find it so if some one can point me the the right direction that would be great

00 and 01 has the defroster behind the cup holder via the conversion kit: http://www.hardtopguy.com/store/product.ph...66&cat=0&page=1

02-05 has it in the dash, opposite the cruise control button.

06+ has the VSA button in the defrost spot and defrost button moved to center console.

Not sure what you have to do to retro the dash or center console defrost to a 00/01 though.

Took this from someone else's post, but if this is the defroster you are wanting follow the link in my earlier post.

revive from the dead!

the defrost switch shown above in the center console - does anybody know if the harness for that switch shares the same plug connection as the switch on the new 07 consoles?

NO. you have to get the 00-01 center console defroster switch from Hardtopguy.com
The plug on the 06+ console is bigger then the plug of the 00-01.
see the whole thing with the defroster switches on our cars is this: 00-01 switches you have to push to turn on and push to turn off. the switch for the defrost button on the dash 02-05 is if i remember correctly you push to turn on but it shuts itself off after a few minutes. with the 06+ center console switch is push to turn on and then it shuts itself off.
i've talked with a few people about trying to wire the 00-01 defrost switch to the 06+ switch in the AP2 console. try doing a search on it and maybe my post will come up.
