Default defrost switch

I was wondering if on US models the defrost switch has always been on the dashboard or if in 00-03 models was on the center console. I decided to put a 04 console on my S (EU model) but now I have to do without the defrost button since on the 04 console there's no place for it (there's only the roof and hazard buttons)

Any ideas?

On my US '03, it's on the dash.

'00 and '01 cars didn't have a defroster (plastic window), thus no switch anywhere. It wasn't till the owners of these cars installed the hardtop that a switch was installed in the center console. '02 and later cars that came with the rear glass window and defroster had the switch on the dash. When they got the hardtop, the same switch did double duty.

I say you purchase the 06 rear defrost button and retrofit it to the 04 center console. Just a thought.
