Default "Check Fuel Cap" message on instrument cluster.

A couple of months ago I received a "Check Fuel Cap" message on my instrument cluster. I checked the fuel cap and the message was still there. The next time I started up the car the message was gone.

Now, present time, the message has come back. I have checked the fuel cap and there seems to be nothing wrong. It has been about 4 days since the message has appeared.

Is this a common problem? Has anybody else experienced this? Just to let you know I have an 2007.

I believe it states on the fuel cap, that if not clicked 3 times, a Check Engine Light or similar can occur. Perhaps this is the problem.

Nevermind...I just searched and found a good amount of threads about this.

Sorry about the repeat thread.

Tighten the cap and keep driving. If an actual problem exists the CEL will come on. Otherwise the Check cap message will go away on it's own after driving awhile.
