Default Clunk into first gear

Hey just recently purchased an ap1 s2k, replaced the clutch slave cylinder and drove the car. Come to find out the car was thumping into first and sounds of the clutch wasn’t fully disengaging. I would put the car into second and no thunk, then I would throw it into first with no thunk. What could the issue be? Incorrectly bled system? Faulty throughout ? Faulty clutch?

Its normal. The input shaft is spinning when you push the clutch in. It has to come to an abrupt stop when you put it in gear. Every manual car ever made will also make it. Its just more noticeable in the S2000.

If you have any worries about point of engagement/disengagement, just make sure you adjust the clutch freeplay to 6mm per the FSM. It will still make the thump, but you'll know the adjustment is right.

It happens quite often in many situations, pretty normal. I can't remember if a double clutch shift into 1st helps with this issue 100%, I use the procedure quite a bit when going into 1st gear

I put the car into 2nd, with the clutch depressed, then into 1st. 95% of the time, no funky noises or feel.

And if you can't get into reverse, put it into 1st and then put it into reverse. I do this now out of habit. Just makes it easier to engage reverse.

I think that tip is in the owner's manual. Maybe not for the S2000, but definitely for another car I've owned.

My S2k is like this, as was my old Integra.
