Default Clutch differences

I recently test drove a 2005 and the clutch feels very very "light"?

Is there a big difference between 01 and 05 clutch feel?

I've daily driven a 2001 S2000 for 5 years and felt a small difference over time

I would say my 01 is around a 5

For reference I consider my old 1987 bmw 325 with a slipping clutch a 1
and would consider my friends race clutch a 10

The 05 clutch feels somewhere around a 3 in pressure required and had very slight slipping.

Is it normal for a 05 clutch to feel this light?

Were there any changes made since 01 to make the 05 feel this different?

If there is something wrong with it will having a Honda dealer check it out reveal anything? Not sure if there is a way to check anything clutch related without tearing it apart.

Thanks

Define "light". It's normal for a slipping clutch to slip. If it's slipping it probably needs replacing.

I would say it took about half the pressure of my '01.

So if my 01 takes 50lbs of pressure to depress the clutch I would say this takes 25lbs.

Does that make sense?

My guess would be the lube on the system (hat splines, etc). Several people have noted that a re-greased same kit was a lot lighter clutch. Its really the let off engagement point that tells me something is worn short of real slipping. The higher the engagement, the worse it is.
