Default Clutch issues or ?

Hey guys, I recently started running my s2k again (hit some hard times so had it sitting in the garage unregistered etc for a good while), but I've run into problems. I did buy this car new 9 years ago (2001 model), and was great until recently. Anyway

My question: I started it weekly to keep everything tip top, but now when I drive it (drive it exclusively now) and go over 4000 rpm (roughly) sometimes it revs instead of accelerating. I assume its the clutch slipping, but if I keep it under 4k (which sucks lol) it doesnt slip at all, and weirdly enough its actually worse when the car warms up. So to start:

1. could it be anything other then the clutch, the dealership in Vegas is worthless and didnt even look at it.

2. Anyone in the Vegas/Henderson area know of a good S2000 mechanic. It's above my limited mechanical skills and the dealership is asking $2k to replace it(they also want 2k to replace the ragtop as the back window cracked).

3. I dont race it, or really drift it anymore (got old I guess ), so for normal driving is the stock clutch ok or should I upgrade?

Anyway, thx for any input and thx for a great site.

stock replacement is fine. but if your allready in there to replace it you might as well upgrade to at least a Science Of Speed single. I would for sure go with them over ACT, Clutch Masters and Competition Clutch. Deff not a fan of ACT. its harsh. i just replaced my clutch with a huge upgrade because of plans to go BIG. my car was doing the same exact thing as you mentioned. when i removed my OEM clutch the friction material was worn evenly down to the metal rivets. the AP1 flywheel is great also, so you wont need to change that out unless its damaged to a point it cant be resurfaced.
good luck with your purchase/ install

thx, found his thread here and actually called him; however, being the holidays he's slammed etc. Hoping to meet up next week to go over it all then get the work done early Jan (if my clutch holds that long lol)

Thx again for the help guys.
