Clutch problem?

As stated, keep an eye on it. That black stuff may simply be the grease that was put on the rod to make it slide easier. I've looked at the drawings for the master cylinder and the pedal rod does not make direct contact with the clutch fluid. At the other end of that rod (beyond the firewall) is another barrier, then a space, then comes the part that touches the fluid. Your master cylinder could be fine.
