Clutch replace
This was a brand new, oem, nissin CMC. I’m shocked but it appears to be leaking.
You can see evidence on the clutch pedal but, I didn’t clean it off previously. Now the seal doesn’t look as cruddy as the old one but, it looks to me like it leaking.
Where else would the fluid have gone?
pretty sure I saved the stocker but, should I see about getting my new one replaced for prematurely seal failure?
I didn’t think I’d be dealing with this again. Not for another 100k miles anyway. It’s been like 3k
any suggestions?
You want a factory part from a Honda dealer.
try hondaautomotiveparts.com or similar
You're at the expected lifespan of an aftermarket one.
Your new CMC has a "NISSIN" marking on the casting. Doesn't mean its "OEM".
Anyone can take a Nissin marked casting and stuff it full of junk seals and internals. Also, who knows how it was machined or manufactured. The only thing you know is that externally, the bare casting looks like a factory one.
FWIW, your factory (20 something year old) one was fine. It just needed to be flushed out over time.
My post was recommending you hold on to your orignal CMC that came out of your car.
In general...for this car, aftermarket "OE" replacements...barely ever work. Very few examples of worthy aftermarket parts. Its usually best to buy at a dealer site. No, its not a ripoff. The dealer typically sells a superior part.
