Regarding the difference between the early and the later Coils and the advise in the FSM, am i the only one wich like to meet the responsible engineer, grab his shirt, shake him and yell "Explain this to me!" at him?
Here are some measurements I did many years ago when I got a set of Okada coils.
I did check inductance and capacitance as well, not sure how scientific those measurements were though.
Left Okada, to the right stock 2003 coils that as far as I know came with the car.
What a mess! The Densos are available here in Germany, but Denso Europe dont list the S2000 in the application list. Therefore, no online store (at least here in Germany) list them when you search for Ignition Coils for the S2000. Took "a little" time to figure it out. Price is O.K. Four Coils are on the way to me. Next addition for my spare part stash in the attic.
For all European S2000 owners: Denso DIC-0105. It´s the S2000 00 - 06 Version, judging by Pictures.
Denso Europe list it for several Hondas with the K20/K24 engine from 2001 - 2012

NGK Aftermarket Europe Nr. U-5099, Made in China. Has the "two ribs" on the head (As explained in the FSM for the DBW S2000 from -06 on). According to the application list, it fits all hondas with this type of coil, 970 OHM.
DENSO Aftermarket Europe Nr. DIC-0105, 099700-115 R , Made in Japan. Has only one "Rib". According to the application list, it fits all Hondas with the K engine, the S2000 is not listed in the aplication List. 1150 OHM.
Both looks and feel like real Quailty parts. As long as nobody could explain me the importance off the OHM values, i will go with the Denso UIC-0105, even if the S2000 is not listed in the apllication list for whatever reason.

The Denso part number does not even show up when I search it on Densos site which is odd. But that same part number is the part Honda sells and lists for the 2004-2005 s2k along with many other hondas if you look on their parts page
And for the Records: The Denso 099700-115 R Ignition coil is also used in a Honda Motorcycle, the VFR 800 (called "Interceptor" in the USA) with the V4 Engine.
