Pete, I'd be interested in seeing the headlights once you paint the houseing. I was also thinking of doing this.

thanks and good luck

So, the only damage is to the front of the car? It's not clear from the pics if there's any damage to the side? I assume not? Are they repainting the entire car or just the new parts? Make sure the estimate takes the 3-layer (whatever the term is for that) painting process into account. My car was in an accident last June and the initail estimate was $16,000 which turned out to be over 22,500 because of the paint issue. If they knew this right away, the insurance would have totalled the car which could have saved me lots of trouble as well. The damage on my car was both sides and front left cornet however the engine bay did not receive any damage. IMO your estimate is very conservative. Good luck!

The estimate to get my car back to pre-accident condition was a little over $7,000.

Kekoa- I will post pics of the headlights when they are done.

mas- The only damage is to the front, above the bumper.

I don't want them to paint the entire car, because my factory paint is perfect. I'm hoping for a perfect match, but my luck hasn't been to good lately.

Well, the big issue, that has been going on since last Friday, is about the defective hood that I received from Evolution Autosport.

Jeff at Evolution would not exchange it, or give me any kind of compensation whatsoever. There is no damage from shipping, all of the defects are from the manufacturer.

Here is a link to the photos of the hood, if you haven't seen it:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=101577

I'll post more info on the repair, as soon as I can get this defective hood situation figured out. I will have to take the hood to another shop if I want it painted, or I may have to take a big loss, and get rid of the hood. I don't know, yet.

More about the hood:

Everyone was shocked when I posted the (better) photos that I took, after the defective hood was on the car (see other thread). I still couldn't get pics of most of the defects, because of the overhead lighting.

I just got a call yesterday from the manufacturer of the defective hood.

He said that he will call me back in a few days with some kind of resolution.

I bought the hood from Jeff at Evolution Motorsports, but the defective hood was shipped directly to me, from the manufacturer, so Jeff never got a chance to see the hood. I guess after seeing the photos, he changed his mind and contacted the manufacturer.

That seems more proper. I'm glad to see he is trying to make things right.

I'll let you all know what happens.

I cleared and installed the painted and clear-coated inserts in the headlights today.

The fit of the Rick's diffusers was pretty bad. They are very easy to re-mold if you submerge them in hot water.

The amber tone that you see is just a reflection, there are no bulbs inside. I'll be using silver and clear bulbs.

The finished shot was taken indoors. I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow.

can't wait to see 'em in the car. I'm going to bake my lights this weekend. Good to know the fit is bad, at least I know I've got some work on my hands. They look pretty flat now that you mention it.......oh well.

how much longer you reckon til you're rolling around again? Are you happy with the shop's work? I ask because I've three teeny-tiny nicks on my nose that I want to have cleaned up. My cars too young to have scars. Hell, all of our cars are....

I couldn't find any appropriate clamps to use when clearing my headlights, so I did this, which seemed to work well:

And this photo was taken on Friday (2/7). Can you guess what happened?
