I think that the Vortech kit pulls out some timing at the top end of the rpm range which takes away some of the peak power output. IMO, this is why the numbers are comparable to the Comptech kit even though it is aftercooled and running more boost.

That was the reason for my question. 280 whp is normal for a comptech s200 right? And that is at 6psi right? So the Vortech kit puts down roughly 10 more whp but runs an additonal 1.5 psi? So would the main advantage of the vortech kit be that a boost upgrade would be safer to do with the Vortech (I know one could make it safer with the Comptech kit with additional hardware, but I mean is factory form)? Are the kits still priced similarly or is the Comptech kit now cheaper?

Modifry and I will try and get out as soon as we can to do a highway run and see if either car can pull on the other.

Modifry, If you want to go to the dyno I am planning on getting an hour of tuning done at the first of the year. We might be able to get some of the other guys to come up as well and get some kind of discount.

Yes my Vortech unit put 292 to the wheels with a VAFC. The only tuning done was to move VTECH to 5300 RPM's. Prior to the tuning I maxed out at 284 RWHP. Here are my dyno runs You can also notice that I am only getting 6.1 PSI at the intake manifold. The 7-8 that vortech quotes is out of the blower. You lose a lot through the aftercooler although I am not sure how much exactly. Its a 5" pulley if someone can do the math. If someone has an acurate reading of 7+ lbs at their intake manifold let me know because that would easily put me over 300 and I need to do a little troubleshooting..

Both Dynos were done in similar weather conditions It was about 90 degrees and very humid.

no VAFC:

VAFC with VTECH at 5300 RPM's:

I manually tuned the car conservitively after the dynos to ensure safty for the engine. I still need to go and have a final tuning by a pro. I am going to try and do this around the first of the year when its nice and cold in hopes of getting a 300 HP number.

I am pretty sure someone (forget who) at comptech told me that the inter (or after)cooler was air to water. The boost drop should be pretty small with this type of cooler.

Plus, if you're gonna do quarter miles, means you could drop ice in that bad boy.

1randyc has an air to air.

i would like to get the intercooler just to run cooler in the summer - i probably wouldn't even get a smaller pulley (well, maybe after the S is out of warranty)
