Default A crazy idea...

Alright...for the record, I am new to this forum, I just joined a few minutes ago as a matter of fact...even though I don't own an S2000, I am up for buying one extremely soon. I've researched hundreds of S2k's with different setups to gain power, most being very impressive.

Long ago in a land far away, in the days of the B-series engines, tuners did what is known as a frankenstein swap. For those that don't know what this is, it is basically taking the block of a bigger motor and putting in a smaller head to send compression through the roof. The most common one was the B18C1 block fitted to the B16A3 head. This combination did wonders for the car as torque went through the roof, rpm's went through the roof and everything that goes along with it(quarter mile, 0-60,etc.) Well, I've done considerable research and have discovered that the F22C can't take heads from cars such as the RSX, the K20, or the Prelude's H22 of even the Accord Type R's F20A which is supposedly somewhat similar. This is due to the fact that either these motors sit horizontally or because their cams spin backwards compared to the S2000 or whatever other technicality.

My question is, and I reach out to anyone worldwide to see if they have heard of or know anything about this, has anyone ever tried to put F20C, (AP1) heads on an F22C block?? There is a considerable stroke increase in the F22 over the F20, which is a similar pattern seen in the B16/B18 combo. Can this be done to make an ultimate S2000?? I also know that this, if it works, should be done on 04-05 AP2's cuz, drive by wire can get in the way...what do you guys think??

IBTL!

AP1 and AP2 heads are largely the same and you won't gain anything swapping between the two. AP2 has stronger valve retainers from the factory.

Oh like Ford did in 1969 with the Boss 302? 351C block/302 head...

Fresh idea!

Im joking with you man, Id say leave it alone or Turbo the car.

Im subscribing though, I want to see where this goes.

the only difference between the heads are the cams, retainers, and i think the springs. Some people have put a ap1 intake cam into an AP2 (has 4 degrees increased duration, which in tubular header setups increases power, but i have yet to see dyno comparisons... I have done the same on a log manifold on a turbo setup, and i saw boost 500 rpm's later than i did with the AP2 cams
