Default DBW reflash

Hi.

Does anyone know if you can swap the 06 reflashed ecu into a 07 without reflashing the keys?

How about if you swap keys or take the spare on the side and use your original key to turn the ignition? Just keep the 06 spare key on the side so the ecu reads it so it turns on? Not sure if the immobilizer is activated in the key slot or just needs to be in the car?

I hope I didnt confuse anyone. Not sure if I explained it well.

Im asking because I might not have a chance to reflash the keys when I do the swap so I wanted to drive the car to a dealer and then have them reflash the immobilizer.

Thanks!

oh...does anyone know how much it costs to reflash the keys?

Switching keys will be a task, since you need to switch out trunk, doors and ignition.

Maybe Hondata will program the ecu for your 07 keys. I'd ask them the question, it might be as simple as taking it to the dealer, but run it through Hondata first.

^thanks for the response.

let me add more details:

im interested in buying a used one. a friend might sell me his but i still have my spare keys n remotes so id use those to open the doors/trunk...no prob there.

wondering if i need to have the oem key in the ignition or just needs to be in the cabin?

i plan on swapping it at his place and then taking it to Honda when i get a chance to reflash my keys.

from what ive hear, Hondata does all that if you buy it from them.

thanks!

AFAIK, Hondata does nothing with immobilizer key programming. Both cars will need the keys reprogrammed to the new PCM when they are swapped.

Not easily. The car will not start without a programmed key. You could try to get a non-transponder key cut for your car, and tape the key from the other car to it to get the immobilizer receiver to pick up the programmed key. It wont work if you have 2 programmed keys next to each other.
