That DIY is just for the R&R not changing out the broke internals of your damaged rear.
I built the replacement rear for that DIY

With trade of you old damaged rear I send you a reconditioned rear ready to go for less than you can rebild your self.

I also helped shock with that build as well
If you chose to rebuild your self you can call me for instructions or advice. Good luck

Fit a Miata NB model crownwheel and pinion into your housing. I've found they are stronger than the Honda equivalent gears and bolt straight in.
Really? This is a huge solution. Has this been posted in detail somewhere and I missed it?

The Miata 4.10 gear is the exact same as the one in the S2000 MH01-27-110

Nothing against Puddy - I hear nothing but rave reviews about his work - but if you're running stock power and not beating on the car (racing, etc), then a stock replacement diff will be just fine for you.

That is why I build a stock reconditioned rear for just a few bucks more than some used rear. If you trade in the blown rear it ends up being about the same price as used

Thats what i'd do... because buying an as-is used diff could result in another blown diff incident in two weeks. If you dont have about $1000 for car issues you shouldn't drive an s2000.

Frankly, stock parts don't always hold up, which is why so many fail. I'm not sure stock is good enough if you ever plan to push it. I don't launch my car, but with even minimal hard starts on an auto-x course I expect mine to go someday.
