Differential Problem=(

Then you also don't know how it was serviced?
Change out the diff oil.
Look for larger shavings in the old oil AND on the magnetic drain plug.
You could take a look at the ring gear through the drain hole (watch for oil drops)
Use the recommended SAE 90 GL-5 oil for the diff.
LE-607 is a very good (the best
) choice.
1 quart will do.
I did buy the car used a little over 2 months ago so I have no idea how the previous owner handled the car.

If your diff is broken, what kind of noise would it make? Is it loud?
Backstory: 500 HP Camaro, the car sounded like that when we pulled it off the trailer for the final race of the season. I could either win the local championship or drop to 2nd pending the results of that race. The car owner said, "It's broken anyway and I've got a spare axle at home, go for it!"
Long story short, I won the championship anyway because the 2nd place guy finished a bit too far down the order that day.

At low speeds I can hear sort of a "card in bike spokes" sound, but it is very faint and could very well be my mind playing tricks on me after reading all of these posts.
I have never launched my car, and when I heard the sound I was just cruising... but I did buy the car used a little over 2 months ago

I change my differential oil about every other engine oil change, ~ every 20000 miles (change engine oil ~every 10000 miles with Amsoil full synthetic) and differential oil with LE607 or the new LE1605.
I agree the Richmond 4.56 gears are the best for all around drivability and durability. Mine are cryo'd.
