Ok Guys, Here's an update.

I now have another cracked alternator bracket. This bracket has only seen use with the check valve setup.

At this point I no longer feel comfortable making the assertion that the GhostBooster is associated with these failures.

Sunday morning before i departed for an autocross I checked for cracks in the brackets and none were found. This morning before departing for lunch I checked for cracks and found one in the same place as last time. It is nearly identical to the crack pictured above except its currently not as long.

Sorry to hear that David, but I believe it's actually good new in the grand scheme of things.

Now Comptech can start fixing the "real" problem (hopefully they finally realize there is a problem) and the rest of us can get rid of the POS check valves.

Do you know what results Shad got from the strain gauge testing he said he would conduct?

I will check mine when I get home tonight....the crack on Dave's looks very similar to the one prior. Same place as the last one.

anybody going to, or want to try a simple rubber spacer/grommet/washer between the bracket and engine mounting points? Or is that too simple?

Well just went out to check out my brackets and sure enough it is cracked. Not bad though. Just a small fracture in the same spot as dave's. Everyone needs to go out and really take a good hard look at their brackets, it is very difficult to see. It is on the alternator side of the bracket towards the motor. The crack will start at the bottom and work up. It is about an inch from the motor. You will need to wipe it clean to expose the crack.

Please post back with your findings. Thanks. We need as much info as we can get so we can let Comptech know what is going on.

By the way no new info on the person from Texas with the broken brackets....

Just a FYI, compared to the pics above my crack is no where near as long or as defined as Dave's. It is barely visible but I can see a faint jagged line starting from the bottom and about an inch in length. Again, very hard to see.

IrishStook any thoughts on this??

I just went over mine for 10-15 minutes including cleaning and running my fingers and fingernails over all mounting points and I can't find any cracks. I'll get it checked out by my buddy who installed the thing.

I have requested several times privately for someone to send me a failed bracket but somehow thay all go somewhere else. If any one has a failed part and would like an UNBIASED third party assesment please email me......quite frankly I'm curious! I have been involved with FAA/NTSB accident investigations for many years and can readily tell you if it is a stress/fatigue/metallugical or chemical failure. With all these failures how come no one can come up with a failed component? Oh that's right you get a new one if you send it back to the source of the problem.

Utah, One way or another we will get you a broken bracket.... In the past Keith and I have taken our cars to Comptech to get the brackets replaced and obviously they wanted to keep them for examination or what ever.... The last bracket of mine that broke I replaced myself and it is currently in the hands of a local machinist. I should be able to get that bracket to you at the very least. Do you have any use for multiple cracked brackets???
