I think it need to be steel like UL said b4.

As he said, you wil notice just about every other part that is belted on to the engine has a steel bracket

Dude, it needs to be a rigid cantilever mount, no worky with boingieness.
Duh, but certainly a stiff rubber washer stuck in there is worth a try. No boingyness, just absorbtion of some harmonics there.

If there's any give at that mount, then the other mounts will crack.
Put rubber washers at all the mounts you say? Now the thing won't stay in plane and belts will start shooting off at their leisure.
I'm not fighting you here, just trying to answer your question:

I dont think it would move as much as to throw a belt -

and I dont think its very smart to say it wont work if you havnt tried it.

Dave and I are going to Comptech on Thursday. We are Comptech's guinea pigs for all of you SC owners...but if you all could at some point remove the alt bracket and closely look at it and let us know if it broken or if its ok that would be helpful. At this point in time Dave and my car are the only ones with this problem.

Comptech is very aware of this situation and are definetely NOT sitting on their hands even though Dave and I are the only ones experiencing this problem.

By the way, removing the alt bracket is a very simple procedure. There are two bolts and that is it. One of which may require a little manuevering to get at. But all in all should only take like 10 minutes.

RT,

Nevermind, you dont get it.

It would be the first thing on my mounts if I had the charger, the mounts wouldnt move but rather absorb, or resonate a different freq. Hard to grasp I know.

Better yet if you knew an exact harmonic . . .

Holy Cow!

I have the "crack" starting on my alternator bracket!! I haven't driven the car in two months (it's been in pieces) but I just went out and checked...

History:

-1000 miles with bad check-valves
-500 miles with "Ghostbooster"... since removed.

I will e-mail Mike B! Should I just have another bracket locally machined out of steel?

Wow... who knew I had the "crack"?
