I've got to do this to my AP1. The previous owner just kept the lights switched off and I just now noticed the problem.

There are two small clips at the front of the light to pop off, then the light fixture comes down.

Remove the electrical connector

This is what mine looked like. It kinda worked when it wanted to.

Remove the slide switch but BE CAREFUL, it's easy to lose the little ball bearing detent balls.

I cleaned mine up with a brass brush in my Dremel at the lowest speed.

Works great now.

MP2k - Thanks a bunch. Your pictures made repair of the map light simple. Problem was exactly as you described except my contacts were more corroded with lovely green deposits. Just two comments:
-Flat head screw driver to remove lens was more medium in size (as in your picture).
-After cleaning with my Dremel, I applied a swipe of WD-40 with a Q-Tip to the contacts as a preventative measure.
RESULTS: Everything worked perfectly after cleanup - thanks again for taking the time to post the fantastic pictures.

Speaking of domelight/spotlights.. mine don't work at all. I suspect is a blown fuse.. anyone knows where that fuse might be, and which one in particular is it? 10x

look under the steering column towards the door side, you will see the fuse panel. i just checked mine today and it was a 7.5 amp fuse. the fuse panel label is on the quarter panel.

You can use #0000 steel wool from the paint section of the hardware store. It will polish copper to a high shine with little effort, and you don't risk over polishing it..

A bit of vinegar on a small clean rag works great as well. I also found some corrosion on the female pigtail contacts. I would never have known if one lead hadn't pulled out when I separated the pigtails.

Bump for this simple, yet awesome DIY! Lights stopped working last night, except when I played with the switch and got it between "door" and "on."

Fixed with Q-tips and vinegar! Contacts were light green and dull, now shiny again! Working perfect!
