Default Door Lock on Startup?

When you start up / shut down the car do the doors lock and unlock?

I just bought a used '08. I bought it from a dealer who tried to sell me this POS KARR alarm. I did not buy the alarm but it is installed and disabled. The doors do not lock/unlock when I start up / shut down the car.

I susepct the alarm. I unplugged the alarm box and I cannot start the car with it unplugged. It has 8 wires spliced into a wiring harness and 2 more that go direct from the box to the plug that harness plugs into.

I'm going to take it back to the dealer but I need to know the normal operation of the doors. If somebody knows how to properly uninstall this so my car will actually start I'd appreciate it. I wonder what those 2 direct wires do and if they just cut them on the other end in my wiring harness.

when i had my alarm installed my door locks lock as soon as the key touches the ignition. they unlock when i shut the car off. try going to a shop that deals with aftermarket alarms and have the alarm plugged in and see if the automatic door locks have been turned on. mine are off but they still lock unlock by themselves.
