the car doesnt indicate the door is open on either side. map lights only work once in a while if u bang them with ur hand. is the map light/door open light some how tied together with the indicater on the dash?

 

LOL. I think youre looking at the wrong problem. Its most likely your Door position switch, its the small nub that sticks out near the latch on the body. try removing that (1 screw or so) and checking the connection.

The "banging map light with yoiur hand" turns it on because the map lights are click on/off, as well as moving the switch to the center or to the right.

IF they still dont go on, take apart the map light: most likely the problem is corrosion due to a leak from the weatherstripping from the convert. top.

 

the map lights dont work thats why u gotta hit them. i guess i gotta take everything apart
