Anyways, when I down shift I need to be in power band always to maximize power? So if I am going 55 and downshift to 3rd I dont believe I will be in powerband right away? So if I go to 2nd of course I am in power band but need to shift quickly?

Correct me if I am wrong.
What I would do, and what I did with my car, was find a relatively vacant and straight stretch of road and simply accelerate up to 6000 rpms (seems to be the usual VTEC engagement speed for most of us) and note how fast I was going in each gear. You don't need to be at full throttle while doing this, just let it speed up until you hit that 6000 rpm mark and check the speed. Then you'll know the lowest speed you can downshift into a particular gear at, and still be assured of the VTEC rush for maximum performance.

FWIW!

Steve R.

Does "rev matching" always refer to double clutching? Or is it considered "rev matching" when you blip single clutch downshifting with the clutch pedal down too?

Rev matching and double clutching are two different things that can be done at the same time if circumstances dictate.
Rev matching is simply raising (or lowering) engine rpm to a point that "matches" the speed it needs to be for the next gear whether that gear be up or down.
Double clutching involves the going through neutral in such a way as to "connect" the tranny back with the engine (clutch action needed) so that the tranny can be spun up (or down).
To make things even more spicey, you can throw in a "heel/toe" manouver, but since you didn't ask, I won't complicate things any further.
