Default Driveshaft vibration caused by a missing bolt?

Hi everyone
I have vibrations on my 00' s2k between 55mph and 70mph. These vibrations are quite linear, i.e. it does not vary when I load up, clutch, shift in neutral. I noticed that a bolt was missing on the diff side. Does a missing bolt could cause that kind of vibrations?
thanks!

Could be, but sounds more like a tire balance issue.

Missing bolt is easy to replace. You need to anyway. You'll know soon enough if that was the problem.

If one is missing, the others are likely loose.

Check all 12. Very likely your problem.

for me, this vibration was a loose pinion nut in the diff.

i was getting instant metal shavings in my diff oil even after one drive.

finally pinpointed the cause to the pinion nut, tightened it up and the vibration stopped, even though my diff now makes a low speed whine. it's held up for 20K+ miles. running 190w diff fluid since there was damage.

i've not heard of another s2000 experiencing a loose pinion nut, but i have read in an automotive book that this does happen to the pinion nut over a long period of time.

Ok that was the missing bolt. I didn't expect such vibration + groan from a missing bolt.
