Like said above, just document the situation so if anything does happen then you are covered!! The noise would just be from the engine not being sealed that's all... and since you still had oil left you should be fine...

Just makes you wander what kinda of idiots these dealers/garages employ to repair/service these cars... i know some people from my school that work at a local place, i don't go near them, they could hardly write their name let alone trying to service a motor vehicle...

you're gonna have to find that oil cap on your own.

it's on top of your transmission.

You guys were right, the oil cap was stuck between the transmission and the firewall.

It was the cap making the noise the entire time, not the engine.

After 5 miles with no oil cap, I would not think you should have lost much oil at all, if any? Makes me wonder if those idiots shorted you on oil in the 1st place.

What I have noticed lately is that those 5-qt jug does not give you an honest 5-qt. So if the dealer used one of those jugs, you better damn make sure to check that dipstick. It happen to me 3 times already, twice with Mobil 1 and once with Castrol GTX. Oil companies are cutting down too.
