Starting to think I should get a bigger radiator after reading that thread

Hook up a laptop to your aem and check the temps when the fans go on and off. Tell us when your fans are set to turn on. If the fans aren't set to turn on til 210 degrees, all your changes won't matter a whole lot.

I have been doing a lot of coolant system searching as of late. It appears to me that most aftermarket cooling upgrades over cool our cars when talking N/A. A good operating stock system should be quite easily sufficient. I was about to pull the trigger on buying an aftermarket rad, thermostat and fan switch till I searched. I did buy a PLX DM200 and my temp is almost always 183-184 even on the track. My fans don't even kick on unless I am sitting in traffic for awhile (203-204 degrees)
would over-cooling damage anything? I'm thinking of changing the oem radiator soon to an aftermarket aluminum radiator..as well as the rad cap. I'm just wondering if decreasing engine temps may provide better power and reliability even if you operate at stock level temperatures.
If its for track sake, no way.. I am wondering the same. I found was this "Overcooling is most severe when a high sulfur fuel is used. High sulfur fuel will increase wear levels when an engine doesn't reach an operating temperature over 175°F or 80°C." I've known BMW owners who's cars in winter would never reach middle line, and its quite common on the 3-Series. They've driven like that for years, never had an issue. As for an aluminum radiator, its great because its chances of leaking are very minimal (If its a quality product, quality aluminum, and quality welds)

Thank you for posting this thread, I have aem v2 on my car and I always wondered why the coolant temps were warmer on the gauge than before the ems was installed. I guess it doesn't really matter because my motor is junk now ha ha ha, but I can fix it for the new motor in the calibration!

ON a side not has anyone with aem ems v2 have problems with their oem coolant gauge reading over half right when they start their car up and its cold? For some reason mine does and I have no idea why, after it runs for a minute or so it drops all the way down to the bottom like normal but it reads high when I first start it in the morning?
