Thanks for the technical lession rob-2, but i don't need it. You can have the last word if it makes you happy.
barrett4bama, i've had 2 z28's, a corvette, and now the S2000. I've driven about every muscle car you can name along with a RUF 930 Turbo. All with 4 or 5 speed trannys. almost every one of them has had an issue like you describe but only now and then, and i suspect yours is no different.
At least rob-2 and i agree (I think) that if ,when you are stopped, you hit second before you hit first to pull away, it will probably work fine. if not, you could spend the money on a fluid change--not a bad idea--and if that doesn't work, go to your mechanic or dealer for a professional opinion/fix.
