Yes it winds up on the magnet. Great reason to change your dif fluid and clean your magnet. If there is enough metal paste on the magnet, it wont be able to catch big stuff like this and it can do more damage.

I'll post it here too...you can buy a second magnetic drain plug from Honda, and use it in the fill hole and run dual magnets.

I have found those half-moon pieces before with no ill effects to the dif.

As far as your pull, it is 100% without question the tires causing it.

Pressure, brand, size, age, and wear must be an exact match on the rear or the car will pull on acceleration, and shift in the oppositite direction on decel.

My customer that had that ear on his drain plug is going to the draogn with me next week. I'm going to thrash his car left and right turns and see if the dif is acting up at all. As of now it shows no issues.
I am used to seeing the tpms light go off sometimes after work due to one of my tires having a slow leak. Well I never got it fixed and after leaving work saw the light go off and noticed that on throttle I had to counter steer and then I had to do the same thing when slowing down. Ended up being that tire w/ the slow leak that now had a fast leak .
