Fresh Engine wont idle!
So i just had my 01 engine fully rebuilt top and bottom because i spun a rod bearing. I installed it this weekend and it cranked just fine. But it has a real rough loping idle, and when i push the gas in it drops WAAYYY too low and sometimes it dies and sometimes it just fights to stay alive. The little black valve on the stock intake is hissing also. The one with the sensor plugged into it. What is that thing and does it have anything to do with my problem?
Any kind of hissing on the intake side of the engine usually means it's a vacuum leak. The engine is sucking in more air than normal, and is leaning out your air/fuel mix. Also, if you're talking about the map sensor as the little black valve, that'll really mess with the ECU, since it can't meter the air correctly. Take it back to the shop that you had your engine rebuilt and have them fix it, or if you want, try to take out the sensor, and put it back in properly yourself.
isnt the map sensor near throttle body? im talking about the little black valve on the back of the intake box. and yeah i know we have a learning type ecu. i've reset it as well so i know it has to learn for a while.
The little solenoid with two vacuum connections?
My guess is it's connected up wrong. It's the air control solenoid and your car will misbehave if it's not connected properly.
If you can still download the Comptech SC install instructions they have a great diagram of the proper connections.

well, thanks auss2000 but i think i have it figured out. im taking it to honda today to have them reset my timing. im pretty much guessing the crank got turned before i had a chance to install the auto tensioner. it sucks. but im gonna go cut them a check!

actually now that i looked at the diagram, i broke the air control valve vacuum tank. i just jb welded the outside around the crack. if it isnt sealed then would that make my car seem like the timing was off?
