Full Exhaust Vs. New Mufflers
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this situation. I really dont wanna drop several hundred dollars on a full exhaust system.. I was that you can just buy new carbon fiber mufflers that are about 75 a piece or so. What would that sound like? And would it be a smart choice? thanks!

if you want it jsut for the noise, get a screw driver and poke holes in your stock mufflers.
seriously don't do it, its a ricey thing to do, plus it'll probablly sound like crap.

Interesting link. I've been considering this mod as well.
Does anyone know if a 2.5" inlet can be mounted to the OEM pipes without too much trouble? Also, does anyone know what labor for this might run?

If you get a decent muffler, it should sound fine. There are plenty of carbon fiber topped
mufflers (essentially stainless steel) that sound great. You could get a pair of Magnaflow
canisters and get 75% of the sound and performance of a full cat back. You'll want to check your canister sizes to make sure it exits the rear fascia correctly but there is nothing wrong with replacing the two OEM mufflers with two canister or other quality mufflers.

Here's my car back in the day with rice mufflers.
It was way too loud (but i liked it better than stock) but they were too large and melted my bumper. You won't find real carbon fiber mufflers for $75 (covered maybe) probably ~$200 each, I was going to go this route too before I decided to get the spugen cat-back.
Good luck.

You're the first person I've heard say that a muffler only switch was too loud. Most people seem to think that they're a nice compromise between stock and some of the aftermarket exhausts.
Which mufflers did you have, or what style were they?

they were Bomz GT spec mufflers. they were only too loud at lower, cruising rpms, where it would be a little hard to have a conversation with my passenger. at WOT at higher rpms they would sound good and loud almost the same as my spugen dual.
