Default FYI: Notchy shifting/possible "solution"

Just an FYI for folks who feel their shifting has become more notchy as the car has aged, despite tranny fluid changes...

Check your clutch master cylinder fluid! I'm sure you've seen threads that show the nasty black fluid that was in the clutch master cylinder, even after only 1X,000 miles. The problem is, if you've left it like that for too long, your hydraulics may be suffering.
I bought my car used: master cylinder had a slight leak, and the fluid was BLACK. Bled the system, no change (perhaps even worse, likely because I moved some of the sediment around).

As a result, I had to replace both the master and slave cylinders. While this hasn't got rid of my issue with getting the car in gear during cold weather, it HAS dramatically lessened the notchiness of my shifts.

Obviously this won't affect some people, but it may be a solution for others.

Also pull the shifter apart and apply a bunch of Urea grease. It improves the smoothness immensley.

To resurrect old thread - how could one tell if a leaky master cylinder is indeed the culprit of notchy shifting ( after changing MTF and bleeding clutch ) short of replacing master cylinder?
Someone suggested putting the rear on jackstands and seeing if wheels rotate with clutch depressed in first gear.

Any gouge on the notchy shifting? I have an 07 with 23K and the shifting is getting worse. The Honda dealer dismissed it and said nothing was wrong.

Can some one point me in the right direction? I'll keep reading the threads.

Thanks!
