Just bought a used '03 S2k.

I've noticed at night that the brightness of the backlighting for the audio controls on the left of the steering wheel are much dimmer than the A/C-heater controls on the right side of the wheel. This is regardless of overall brightness setting.

Is this normal?

Sure sounds like a bad ground to me...

I had a 'tegra with a big ground bold being loose, the one from tranny to frame, had same symptoms. Except on top of it, temp gauge would work like a tachometer, and A/C only when the headlights were on... Starting the car sucked %$$. All it was is a 10mm bolt.

Check grounds, especially in the areas that may have been serviced/worked on recently.

i think its normal, have noticed also my audio controls are dimmer than the a/c controls, dont worry!!
