Question HELP!

when u mechanically over rev, does your rev limiter flash? I was driving down the highway around 115-120Km/ 65-70 Mphish and I ment to drop it into 4rth and might have put it into second, or I might have still been in nutral, cause I mashed the gas after I thought it was in gear and dropped the clutch. I don't think my wheels locked up and I just saw my RPMS spike and the engine cut off going off, I dunno if I over reved or not it all happened so quick:S

PLEase help!

If you were under power (on the gas) you should be fine. If you were are speed and shifted from 5th to 2nd, there is no rev limiter. The momentum of the car would have smashed the valves into the piston. You would know it.

Does the car still run? If it does you should be fine. If not, it is going to cost about 5-6K to fix.

Be carefull next time.

Your second gear is good to 65 mph. If you were going at 70 mph and you didn't slow down much during all this commotion, you would have hit just under 9500 rpm. Let's say you were going no more than 70 mph. Take a valium, go to bed and wake up tomorrow like nothing happened.

I dunno if I over reved or not
You've used a lot of words like "ish" and "might have" (this one twice) and "I don't think". If you don't know for sure what the facts are, it's kinda hard for anyone here to know how to respond to your concerns.
I suppose we could tell you that you should be "optimistic-ish". Your engine "might" be fine and there "might" not be any long term ill effects. "We don't think" you should worry.

If the engine cut off was going off then you should be fine... That would mean that when you got back on the gas you were below redline for 2nd gear....probably by a 1K rpms or so.....as soon as you goosed it....you hit the rev-limiter...

If that's the case...your fine..and consider yourself lucky.

I'm sure the particulars of every situation are different, but from my experience YOU KNOW when your engine is "blown." It sounds like your car is running fine and from your account of the incident it seems that you just tagged the rev limiter. At approx. 65-70 you were borderline on doing some damage at 80-85 you'd probably be waiting for a tow. It happens, be more careful next time.
