HELP! Reverse is going clunk, clunk, clunk...
I noticed it for the first time last night when I backed up to pull it into the garage, it was kind of jerking in reverse. I shrugged it off. This morning it was very noticable and the clunking sound occured at regular intervals (could be with each wheel revolution) and the car jerks with each clunk. It sounds like it's coming from the backend not the tranny. I drove to work and tried reverse again. The clunking and jerking was still there. It persisted even with the clutch depressed. The sound is similar to the noise the car makes when you put the car in gear.
Also, it was difficult to get the car in 1st gear this morning but this went away after 20 minutes on the freeway.
I did a search and there were several references to a clicking in reverse, but there is no way this could be described as a click. Any opinions and advice will be appreciated. I will get it into a dealer today hopefully. So any tips on what to ask them to look at or questions I should be asking them will be appreciated. Please help!
Man I'm bummin'.

This condition is normally noted when the brake pads have "sealed" to the disc. Very common when the disc/pads get wet. Did you just wash or has it been raining? Normal for a reverse clunk if the disks get wet and are not excercised (i.e. driven) dry before putting your toy away.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Utah, not wet - didn't rain nor did I wash it. It was parked overnight in the garage. The sound was definitely mechanical gearing type of noise and sounded like it came from the diff.
BC, Normal?
That's a bit scary.
Well, took it down to Wesleoh and had them change the engine oil, tranny and diff fluids. Of course by the time I got down there the clunking and jerking were barely noticable but Tony was cool. I was due for all of those services and thanks to the Megameet (go T.I.T.S
) I only paid for the diff fluid change. And guess what? The problem is gone! I will watch it closely, especially since my warranty will expire soon.
Thanks again.
