Default Horn honking!

So I changed out my steering wheel for another OEM one. Once I put everything back together, and connected the negative battery cable it started blaring. I looked at everything all over again and readjusted and again the horn kept going off. I finally adjusted the airbag a bit, it when I turn the wheel the horn goes off again.

I used the same cruise control and horn ground wire that was already attached to the SRS reel. I couldn't figure out how to get off the tab on the SRS reel.

Is there a issue with the ground or something? Is there a way to adjust how much pressure is placed on the horn tabs. I mean I have never come across something like this. I ended up pulling the horn relay for now until I find a solution.

Did you make sure that the cable reel is not getting stretched too much? If the SRS system works, I'm thinking that's fine.

I changed wheels recently due to my wheel's leather being messed up due to me using it as a brace for getting up after an injury. I replaced it with an ebay junker that was in much better shape.

There are some rubber bushings and springs on the frame the airbag mounts to, I'm thinking one or more of them are missing. You should compare the new wheel to your old one to see if anything is missing.

Also, from my memory, the horn is one wire. Pushing down on the airbag depresses the springs, and the frame the airbag is mounted to touches parts on the actual wheel, completing the circuit.

I'm not sure what you mean by SRS tab...do you mean the yellow wire harness?

The SRS system works fine, as far as I know. I don't have the SRS light on so I assume that system is working correctly.

The wheel I purchased was purchased from eBay as well and was listed as a s2k wheel. Maybe its not a s2k wheel but I know RSX and EP3 are interchangeable. Would that cause a problen if its not a s2k wheel?

Ill have to check the rubber pieces on the new wheel and see if that's what's causing the issue. I plugged the brown plug correctly back on where it was on the original wheel.

Also this morning on my way to work, I noticed that the cruise control was not working either.

There is a set of parts that the air bag mounts to that closes the horn circuit when pressed. So did you have to swap these over or were they already there?
Sounds to me like then are not installed properly because there is a direct short to ground.

They were already there so there was no need to swap it over. I don't know how to check for the ground short. I mean I basically swapped everything the way it was originally.

I think my SRS reel is messed up. I have had a SRS light due to that. I mean everything was working fine before the swap, is it possible that the SRS reel messed up afterwards? Also will a AP1 reel work on AP2?

So I was finally able to fix the problem with the new wheel. There are small adjusters at the three corners inside the steering wheel that have an allen key head. I adjusted those and finally it doesn't go nuts honking when I put the airbag in. I was also able to fix the cruise control issue. It doesn't look like I need a new SRS reel after all.

Here is the picture with the silver adjusters w/ the allen key thing I was talking about.

So what was the CC problem?

The ground wire in the picture should be someplace other then where it is now. It should be captured in that plastic hook, just to the right. This was where I was thinking the issue was, until the CC was also involved. The SRS reel is fragile.

yea, the black wire needs to be in the plastic hooks (just left of where it is now)

The brown wire I think should be going through the white plastic hooks.

It does look like a S2K wheel, as it has the magnesium color. I don't think Honda uses mg on their other wheels due to the high cost.
