Default How many years should a top last?

It's becoming apparent that those of us saddled with the plastic rear window are going to have the option of upgrading to a top with the glass rear window when replacement time comes up.I'm not anxious to drop $1,000 plus on a new top just yet but on average how many years do you think it will be before our original tops will need replacement. Obviously there are a lot of variables put into place here that will affect their lifespan so I'm only looking for some educated guesses.

Tops on my past cars were still good after ten years. This one appears to have problems that will make the life shorter.

Certainly, these problems can shorten the lifespan of this top. However, I think the problems can be minimized or made insignificant by things like regular washing and use of top protectants, plastic cleaners & polishers, roof well mats, static cling tint. Looking at my top and rear plastic window after 2 full summers and going into its 3rd winter, I'm truly think my top should be doing fine for many years to come, maybe even that "magic" ten years. (Not that I can say that I'll still own this car in ten years.)

Mine is nearly 1 year old and has no sign of wear.

Therefore, I'm extrapolating that mine will last forever.
