Default How to replace window regulator?

My driver's side window just fell inside the door on my way home from work yesterday. I tried searching, but I didn't really see any info. Any ideas on what happened or what's broken, and how to fix it?

UPDATE 1: I removed the door panel, and it looks like the cable snapped. I guess I have to buy a new window regulator. Anyone have a DIY to replace this?

UPDATE 2: I have the old window regular unbolted, but I can't get it out and get the new one in. I guess I have to remove the metal plate to get full access?

UPDATE 3: I got the new window regulator up and running. Had to take the window out first.

there are roughly 5 bolts holding the window up. maybe those bolts got loose. take off your door panel and check to see if those are still connected.

there is a screw on the interior latch/lock cup area, the two screws in the top and bottom of the handle, and i think one to the far top right of the panel.

if you take those off, pop it off from the bottom, then you have access to it.

Is that the only option if the cable snaps (to replace the whole motor/assembly)?

You should be able to use a 2x4 to prop up the window.

UPDATE: The cable snapped. Anyone know how to go about replacing the window regular? It looks pretty cramped in there. I'm not sure how I'm gonna get my hands inside. The whole to get access to the window isn't very big.

Anyone know how to remove that metal plate?
