There is a warning in the service manual...."do not use 00-05 coils in a 06-09 engine."

I would not use 06-09 coils in an early car either.

Would it be ok to mix and match the coils? Say use 3 from a 2002 and 1 from a 2005? Ive got one bad and i would rather buy a cheaper 04-05.

I have a 03 ap1 and my coilpack went at abt 139k miles. changed it to a 04-05 coilpack and no problems ... after that.

I have a 2002 AP1 at 62k miles and the ignition coil pack in cylinder 1 went bad. I replaced it with the 2004-2005 coil pack and it works fine.

What other info do you need ? .

04-05 coils are less expensive than 00-03 coils and perform equally well or better, do not use 00-05 coils in an 06+ s2000. That's about all that is known.

There are some chinese made coils hitting the market now - surprise surprise - at least one member had misfires on his car from using those coils and he had to purchase Japanese made Honda coils to correct the issue. Hopefully your's aren't the same.
