J's suggested price is around $5,500 plus trade in of your motor.

And let me guess, that is a price converted from Yen and doesn't include shipping your motor to them or shipping their motor back to you right? If that is the price in the US, no international shipping required then it is a whole lot better than we have been hearing about so far.

Also, is that 2L or 2.2L?

You guys should view the newest Best Motoring International DVD:The Battles At 10,000 RPM. I think it's Vol. 11.

It contains a segment featuring the J's Racing S2K with the 2.2 liter motor in a 5 lap battle along with the Amuse S2K and the C-Ken S2K. To make a long story short, this 2.2 liter motor in the J's Racing blows up in glorious fashion due to overrevving by a proffesional driver.

The flames, smoke, and carnage are all caught on video!

I just read this entire thread.

Honestly, I would have Alaniz build my motor and keep my Js valve cover....
Then you have the best of both worlds, literally..

IMO you cant go wrong either way but for me personally living in the US it would be easier and cheaper for me to take it to Alaniz. Honestly I dont care if the internals are not JDM. I would rather have power with some sort of warranty that I could make due on if something came up within 12 months or whatever...
But in my case and a lot of other peoples cases spending $9000 on a crate motor is just a little to much for what you get, even if you get the claimed numbers.
You know shipping is another big issue. I had a rollcage rushed in from Japan and it cost $600. Now if I did that with a motor we would easily be looking at another $2000 on top of the $9000 or whatever the Js engine price is..

Just my .02

as of right now I'm waiting for J's to answer me on how long it would take them to send me the engine....if everything goes well I should have this motor in my car in a month with the J's ecu and intake .....so that would make me the first one in the U.S to have this motor....
I would stick to your bling theme (I mean this in a good way) . I would go Comptech/Vortech with how your car looks. You enter shows right? You would be in the same class as the MasterGrade car. Extreme Wild Class not JDM class. The Js motor wont pass smog either..

BTW you would be the 3rd person in the US to have the motor...

I got an email from the site listed earlier in this thread saying the J's 2.2L ECUs are still under development. So are people getting the engine replacement without the ECU replacement?

Well, is there anybody out there that still thinks there is some advantage to getting the J's motor?

It's obviously not cheaper. I mean, if Terd can't get a price then I can only assume that it's one of those "If you have to ask you can't afford it" type of things.

And if it's taken this long just to get some numbers how quick can it be to get an actual motor. So there goes the immediacy argument.

As for blue valve covers, well I can get any colour high temp paint I like so that's no benefit.

As you know, I agree AusS2000. Furthermore, we've found some additional hp in Mr. Karner's engine since my last post in this thread while still retaining the stock TB, all-stock internals, etc. I'd say we're right near the 300 hp (crank) # now. Again, an off the shelf Honda motor from the local dealer with the right bolt-ons, a mild port/polish (really just a valve job) and tuning.
