Default Key Fobs not working

I have a 2001 Honda S2000 that I purchased in 2005 currently with 90K miles and have been using the same key fob with the spare stored away. Lately the fob became intermittently functional then a few days later became non-functional. I replaced the 15A fuse under the dash and battery in the fob. I also tried the spare fob with a new battery and still no response. Nothing lights up in the dot at the end of either fob when the lock button is pushed. Maybe this is an issue but for the few days that it was working intermittently, I pushed the unlock button and only one side running light would blink. I then tested all lights and turn signals which functioned as expected. If this is a simple replacement that I need to do what else is there? Or is this an electrical issue for the dealer to look at? Everything else functions properly. Your help is greatly appreciated!
