Keyless Entry Doesn't Work
My buddy has a service manual and I could not find the relay for the power door locks. I checked all the fuses listed and they're all fine. I ended up convincing him to let me try his power door lock module/unit, that's located under the dash near the engine start button, and the problem still exist. When I lock the doors manually, it's easy, so it's not sticking for sure.
I'm not sure if it's the actuators..it still makes a small noise when I try to lock/unlock, but its very faint and weak. I have a feeling that its a relay because I started having this problem when the weather was hot and it was only occuring the driver side and now it's constant and it's both sides..

You are not alone! Mine is doing the exact(!) same thing. What year is your S2000? Mine is a 2005 Honda CR-V which I bought last October (2011). Every symptom you mention, mine is experiencing. It will work in the early morning when it is still somewhat cool (I live in South Florida so cool is a relative term), but will not work later in the day when the weather is hotter. Engine heat has no affect, it only seems to be the exterior temperature that affects it. Your lucky that the trunk still works , my rear door no longer works on the fob. The only modifications I have made is replacing the Stereo. (No MP3 player in 2005 stock stereo). This is probably a non sequitur, but GPS (tried 3) do not work in the cabin as well. Oh one last thing, if I manually lock all the doors and then press the lock button on the fob twice, the horn will honk, so it is definitely receiving the signal. I am looking forward to winter, so that I have keyless entry again.
"Keyless entry: If the remote keyless entry quits working in warm weather, the liftgate module must be reprogrammed. (2002-03)" found this on a '2002-2009 GMC Envoy' web site and am only posting it hear as a "proof of concept" regarding weather (heat) affecting keyless systems and maybe a clue as to the solution.
Bump to the top.
I am having this exact same issue. Thought it was the actuators so replaced them and getting the same failure. Actuators are making noise and moving slightly but its like they arent getting enough power to love the lock mechanism. Fob will release the trunk and sound the horn.
Did anyone ever find a solution? New module under seat?
