Default Keyless remote won't lock/unlock doors

My remote does not lock or unlock the doors, but it does open the trunk. I also hear the beep when I lock the doors, but the locks don't move. When I manually lock the driver's side door, the passenger lock also locks.

I bought the car like this, so I have no idea what happened. Could a blown fuse cause this? I remember checking the fuse, but I guess I can check again if it is a possible cause.

Did it have an after market alarm that was removed?

Possibly.. There is a red "alarm" light in the center console.. I'm assuming it's for an alarm.

If it is a previous aftermarket alarm that's causing the problem, it should be a straight forward fix? Any decent stereo/alarm shops should be able to figure it out?
