Knock sensors have different freq ranges they are sensitve to. If you were to take one from a another engine, like a big V8, it would not work because the V8 will knock at a different freq and has been tuned from the factory to display knock when it hears those certain freqs.

Alos, the stock ecu plays no factor here. I will be using an AEM EMS v2.

I'm putting an '06-'09 short block in an '05. The only thing I can think of that would really change is the pins connectors for the wiring harness. The sensors have to detect the same freqs...
The ap2 motor is unchanged 04-09. So I would not expect different frequencies for 'knock' to be triggered. The only logical explanation is the ECU.

Yes... I know the short blocks are the same.

Thanks.

I will be running EMS v2 and e85 when I get the engine put in the car.
If you are going with a non-stock ECU and E85 all bets are off anyway... pick a sensor and see if it fits your needs.

I have been running a Mugen ECU for many years that ignores the knock sensor and have not had problems. Just use fuel and temperature management to avoid any pre-ignition.

I had my knock sensor on my '00 S2k break when doing a clutch [go figure[ and I put a '03 Civic Si one in there, almost eh same number, I guess even the B series ones work well. i Had no issues with knock, I even took it to the Dragon a few times.

Using a V6 or V8 one may yield different results.

Eh, I'd rather use something with the designated part numbers for an s2000. Almost the same doesn't cut it for me. Thanks though.

I am wondering if they just switched over to a different part number since the 06-09 knock sensor seems to be used with 06-11 Honda Civic SI.

AFAIK, PCX is Honda S2000 specific.

They used a more sensitive knock sensor since the car would be operating with DBW throttle. The DBW factory tune is more 'aggressive' for emissions reasons. Removing the IACV and using the throttle butterfly directly makes the car idle differently. The ignition timing, and injector duty cycle is different between the two intake controls.
